All About Headstart
Head Start is a FREE Federal Program providing services for children and families who qualify within Federal Income Guidelines. Children with special needs and/or disabilities (regardless of the severity) are encouraged to apply and are considered priority enrollees. No school supplies are needed.
FOR CHILDREN, HEAD START OFFERS: A caring, accepting enviornment, access to Health Services, and a great learning experience for their transition into Kindergarten. All will will receive FREE breakfast, lunch and snack.
FOR PARENTS, HEAD START OFFERS: An opportunity to learn and have more participation in their child's educational development. Also offers opportunity to obtain their own skills.
PARENTS MUST BRING:
- Alabama Blue Slip (immunization card) Original
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Cards
- Verification of Income for the previous year (W-2 form, Check Stub, Social Security Statement, Child Support, Unemployment, ect.)
- Medicaid or Insurance Card
TO RECEIVE PRIORITY POINTS PARENTS MUST BRING PROOF OF:
- WIC
- Food Stamps
- Collage ID
- Proof of Kinship Care
- IEP/IFSP
HOMELESS CHILDREN AND CHILDREN WITH DISIBILITIES ARE GIVEN PRIORITY POINTS.
